Nate and I met with my friend and wedding photographer, Jessica Bailey, of J bailey Photography to discuss bridal portraits (April 23rd) and Engagement photos (May 14th) at Pasquals and enjoy some dinner and drinks.
I'm super excited to have such a good friend be my photographer. It was a tough call because I have always wanted her to be a part of my wedding (IE Bridesmaid) but there is no one else I would trust with my photos now!
We really had a good time catching up and I am glad Nate got to know her so he would be more comfortable in the photo sessions, and I drank not 1 but 2 glasses of wine! That's more alcohol than I have drank in over a year.
A good time was had by all and I am super excited for these photo shoots and let Jess do what she does best.
Was one of those days that I kicked ass at!
Finally got caught up at work from being gone, called and got prices on new tires for the Beamer, and by the way OUCH!, run flats are crazy high! Took the car to see about getting bumper fixed where I backed into the trailer hitch and he can do it without replacing it! YAY!
Called the lady to clean Rockwood and set up an appt with my Realtor to put it on the market! We meet with her tonight after work and I am super excited but also kind of sad. I loved that house. It makes me miss the days when it was just me, and Gus, Sophie, and Lola. But life goes on, the house is not the same without the Gusser Bear and Littlest one(Sophie) and Lola and I are happy at our new home. It just seems like the end of an era. The end of Carla-the single, self-sufficient, home owner. Not that all that is bad it's just different. I bought that house at 24 so Gus could have a backyard and I could have a place to call my own and am so proud of being able to do that, but I know it will make someone else just as happy as it made me.
So I like 99% of females love the show, own both the movies, and wonder what it would be like in a big city. What I think is funny is how everyone wants and claims to be a "Carrie".
I'm not so sure that's the way I want to be, the woman couldn't get a loan for a down payment on her apartment but has 60 grand in shoes, granted I love shoes, but someone has their priorities wrong.
Charlotte on the other hand, is a bit naive, but super sweet, found her true love, and lived happily ever after. She is very conservative with her dress but always looks amazing.
Samantha may be a little slutty, but is a powerful woman, great job, self-assured to the utmost and content with her lifestyle and makes no apologies for it.
Miranda has a great job, great education, and great family life.
I would like to think I am a "CariCharMiranSam".
I love fashion like Carrie, but am responsible like Charlotte, driven like Miranda, and outspoken like Samantha.
I believe that most women will have characteristics of all women so why label yourself as just one?
Well the weekend was a success!
My mom came home with 6 pairs of shoes, two new pairs of pants, and a necklace.
This was my mom's trunk before we left for Fort Worth on Saturday! Luckily we only added a few more items before we headed home!
Luckily for you loyal readers I got some shots of my goodies!
These are my Coach DSW finds! yay for DSW, We went to 6 or 8 DSW's. It's my mom's favorite store!
I also found these for Nate. He loves Jimmy Buffett and these are Margaritaville boat shoes!
We also invested in Reebox retones or easytones, I already have a white pair that I love and we found buy one get one 1/2 off, so my mom got a pair and I got mine for $35! yay!
Love my new summer hats, the one of the left is from BCBG and the floral one I found at an AWESOME vintage store, unfortunately no vintage dresses this time but I found a tunic that may work for my Engagement pictures but I forgot to take a picture :(
And no trip is complete without something weenie dog! My mom saw these pajama shorts at GAP and I had to have them!
And last but not least our favorite store is always the one we do the most damage at....COACH...
I am now the proud owner of a new Coach bag, coin purse, key chain, picture frame and notecards.
My mom was just as bad with a new handbag and ring!
All in all we had a blast for her birthday, spent way too much money and are planning to make it an annual trip!
PS apparently spell check is not working now so pardon the misspelled words.
Tomorrow I get my hair did and then my mom and I are headed out to the Big D. Dallas it is for a three day shopping spree that will encompass her turning the big 5-0 on Friday! Happy Birthday MOM!
We will start in Allen because they have a FABULOUS outlet mall, and will hit every DSW we can find for shoes. We love shoes. Usually my mom comes back with as many as 5 new pairs!
Friday we are going to hit up all the vintage stores in Dallas. I want to find a 60's style mod dress for my engagement pictures with the plane Nate and I are doing. I thought a mod dress and some big sunglasses and vintage luggage would look awesome! Maybe I can even get Nate to wear a 60's style or 70's leisure suit! :)
Don't get me wrong we will also have some more "traditional" pictures as well.
Friday night I'm taking my mom to dinner at Don Julio's(her choice) for her birthday followed by whatever she wants to do.
Saturday we are going to a huge craft show in Fort Worth that supports the humane society and local animal shelters. Check it out at Funky Finds
After that we will head home because I have Miss Jodie White's last meal before she turns into Mrs. Jodie Wade. I'm super excited about that too. All the girls at Pasquals. Should be a great ending to a great weekend.
Tomorrow my papa's bone marrow test will be back.
It's kind of a catch 22 situation.
If it comes back clear and no leukemia he has to go to the hospital (here in Wichita) for 2-3 weeks for another round of chemo. We are guessing the chemo is now just a preventative measure since his first round killed all the bad cells.
If it comes back with leukemia still present in the marrow, well that's all she wrote. There is no other treatment available.
We are all kind of suspecting he is in the clear though since he says he feels great and better then he has in a long time.
Do you want to be loved? Most people do. Jesus loves you. "For God so loved the world" are the first words of John 3:16, one of the most popular Bible verses. Everybody wants to be loved. Put your name for the word "world". "For God so loved (your name)" shows God's personal love for you.
Not only does Jesus love you, but also He wants you to have a full, meaningful life. John 10:10 states, "I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full." But sin keeps us from having this full life. Romans 3:23 tells us that all people are sinners: "For all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God."
We cannot save ourselves. God must punish sin; yet He loves us! He provided forgiveness for sin through the death of His son on the cross. "For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God" (1 Peter 3:18). Jesus demonstrated the scope of His love for each of us by taking on Himself the punishment for our sins.
The only way Jesus can affect our lives is for us to ask Him into our lives. "Yet to all who received Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God" (John 1:12).
The choice is ours. "Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out" (Acts 3:19). Repentance is not just feeling sorry for our sin, but it is turning away from our sin and turning to God. Repentance is like making a U-turn; it is a total change of direction.
Is there any reason why you should not receive God's free gift of salvation through Jesus Christ right now? God promises in Romans 10:13, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." Pray a prayer of repentance, such as, "Jesus, I know You love me and that You died for me. I confess my sin and ask You to forgive me. Please come into my life and save me. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen." *
Now Jesus is your personal Savior. Discuss your decision with a pastor or another Christian friend. Tell others of your faith in Christ by being baptized and becoming an active member of a local church.
* I pray like that every day.
It seems so easy and yet for some reason it is so hard for people, maybe it seems too easy.
Friday night Nate and I went to an early dinner at Pasqual's and then went to see the Irish Band, The Brock Maguire Band. They were really good. I didn't really know what to expect. But they were a 4 person jam session. One guy played piano/keyboard, one played two different types of accordions, one played 2 different fiddles and one played the mandolin and banjo.
Saturday we got up, went and ate some breakfast, and went to the dog show at the MPEC and watched the dachshunds parade around. I love me some weenie dogs!
After that I got home and went through my closets and got all of my spring/summer stuff that I don't want/need/ or like anymore and gathered it all up to take to donation or to resale.
Also, most importantly I took a nap!
Sunday Nate and I gave the house a good spring cleaning and spent a much needed few hours on that, I washed all of our clothes, sheets, blankets, etc, and went through all of Connor's old clothes to give to my cousin and his fiance' for her 2 year old little boy.
Also, most importantly I took a 3 hour nap!
When I awoke from my slumber Nate had a wonderful dinner cooked and we spent the evening watching our Sunday night line up of shows that we enjoy.
I received an email from a friend yesterday updating on her life, blog etc and something she said really stuck out to me. She "warned" us and somewhat apologized for her blog seeming vane. It really got me thinking..Aren't all blogs vane? Isn't vanity the main theme of blogs??
Here's my blog, my little slice of the Internet, here is information about me, my life, my likes/dislikes, hobbies etc. Vanity. in. a. nutshell.
Take my blog for example, it seems extremely materialistic. In reality I'm sure I seem that way, but I am really not. I drive a BMW because I got a good deal on it and yes I like nice things but I take great pride in being able to afford these things, I work hard and I reward myself, and when I couldn't afford them I didn't buy them. Plain and Simple. I have never wanted nice things for show or cared what people thought about them. I buy them for me and me only. I do enjoy nice things but obviously my true loves are my fiance', my baby dogs, my family and my friends.
Just a little point from my view. :)
